There are opportunities and challenges for tradespeople of all backgrounds at Maple Leaf Foods

Our Maintenance and Skilled Trades team work directly out of our plants across Canada and the U.S.

We look for individuals who have their Red Seal Certification and are willing and eager to take on the challenge of making sure our equipment is running smoothly and in great shape.

The right people have been able to launch their careers with Maple Leaf Foods as an apprentice and develop and grow into tradespeople, and eventually supervisors. Others have progressed from planners to maintenance planners to maintenance supervisors. It’s all about passion and a willingness to grow.

Maintenance and Skilled Trades offers great job stability – it’s always going to be required to help keep our plant operations running smoothly!

What a day in the life looks like for Maintenance and Skilled Trades

Here’s what you can expect if you join our team:
– Each day begins with a shift turnover where teams meet and discuss issues and events from previous shifts
– Next, it’s time to sanitize and prepare your tools to go onto the production floor
– Then, you would review your work orders that need to be completed for the day, and check for any corrective work orders assigned. If there’s nothing that requires immediate attention or downtime, it’s time to hit the ground running
– Throughout the day, you’ll be working on various work orders, while tuning into any additional jobs through a two-way radio. Any parts needed can be taken out of the parts room and logged to keep track of what is being used
– At the end of the day, it’s time to update all work orders that were completed during the shift, clean up all tools that were used, and check to make sure that everything used is accounted for.
