Maple Leaf Foods plants recognized for NAMI safety award

A team member at our Heritage plant

Workplace safety is a key priority for Maple Leaf Foods. Our goal is to always provide consumers safe, great tasting food produced in a safe work environment. We strive for zero occupational injuries in the workplace, driven by our commitment to employee safety through our Safety Promise and continuous improvement in our safety protocols.

In February 2020, three of our plants were recognized by the North American Meat Institute (NAMI) and the National Safety Council with awards for their workplace safety achievements. Our plant in Guelph and two plants in Toronto received the Award of Honor as part of NAMI’s 2019 Worker Safety Recognition Award Program.

The Institute’s primary program goals are to motivate employers to improve their worker safety performance through the establishment of sound safety and health programs. The award recognizes plants that have achieved a high level of safety performance as part of a continuing effort to reduce occupational injury and illness.

Maple Leaf Foods has established a bold target that elevates our safety performance in-line with world-class consumer packaged goods companies. We are leading the North American meat and poultry industry in overall safety performance. We are continuing our journey to achieve our aspirational vision of zero recordable incidents!
