Shur-Gain Celebrates Grand Opening of ST. Marys Mill

St. Marys, ON (August 30, 2000)Shur-Gain today celebrated the grand opening of its new $8 million, 250,000 tonne state-of-the-art swine and poultry complete feed mill in St. Marys, Ontario.

"The new mill is a technologically advanced facility with a high level of automation. Operating as a dedicated swine and poultry complete feed mill increases efficiency, lowers operating costs and enhances product quality and consistency. As always, the end focus is on continuing to improve service to Shur Gain's retail customers and our franchised dealers," said Jerry Vergeer, Shur-Gain's newly appointed President.

The new mill has the capacity to produce 60 tonnes of feed an hour and has an on-site lab as part of Shur-Gain's commitment to enhance ongoing quality assurance.

"A dedicated mill serving the needs of our swine and poultry feed customers is an important link in Maple Leaf's vertical coordination strategy. We want to deliver value-added products to consumers and that starts on the farm working with our producer partners."
