Maple Leaf Executive Selected as One of Canada's Top 40 Under 40

Brock Furlong honoured for his success and leadership at Maple Leaf Poultry

TORONTO, Ont. - Brock Furlong, president of Maple Leaf Poultry, was selected as one of this year's Top 40 Under 40.

Brock Furlong, 34, is one of 40 chosen from over 700 nominees for this year's Top 40 Under 40 award. Furlong is currently president of Maple Leaf Poultry, one of Canada's leading processors of turkey products, and fresh and frozen chicken including Prime, Canada's leading branded poultry product. Furlong joined Maple Leaf Consumer Foods in 1998 as the vice-president, marketing and was responsible for the launch of several new products including Top Dogs wieners and Ready Crisp bacon. He became president of Maple Leaf Poultry in 1999.

In the spring of 1999, Maple Leaf Foods launched the "Leadership Edge, Competitive Edge Through Leadership - Leaders with Competitive Edge." The company believes that leadership is the true driving force behind the success of the company and for this reason, is dedicated to developing the leadership talents of all Maple Leaf employees.

To support the Leadership Edge program, the Leadership Academy was developed in conjunction with the Richard Ivey School of business. The program offers a company-specific curriculum for Maple Leaf leaders and is in partnership with some of the best business and management educators in North America.
