Maple Leaf Donates $175, 000 for Brandon’s Food for Thought Program Partnership brings nutrition to more than 18 schools in Brandon

BRANDON, MANITOBA, March 21, 2014 – Maple Leaf Foods is celebrating nutrition month with Brandon’s Food for Thought program by donating $175,000 in support of the program’s lunch program expansion.

“We are so thankful for the generous support of Maple Leaf,” said Judy Seib, Program Coordinator, Food for Thought Brandon. “Their contributions will help us expand our nutrition program to all the schools in Brandon and provide the children in our community with access to great nutrition education resources and good quality protein.”

“With hard work and tremendous dedication, Food For Thought has grown into an essential program in Brandon, providing hundreds of students with nutritious meals that fuel their day and help them reach their full potential,” said Morgan Curran-Blaney, Plant Manager, Brandon, Maple Leaf Foods. “We are so proud to partner with such a great organization and play a role in helping children benefit from nutritious food.”

Maple Leaf is supporting the program with a five-year commitment of $35,000 per year, totaling $175,000. The funding is the largest amount donated by a company to Food for Thought. It provides the program with a strong financial base to support its long-term viability. As part of the partnership, students will enjoy Maple Leaf Natural Selections sliced meat products and Maple Leaf Natural Selections Protinis snacks.
