Landmark Feeds Celebrates Grand Opening of Feed Mill Facility in Souris, Manitoba

Landmark, MB, June 25, 2003 – A
new state-of-the-art feed mill operated by Landmark Feeds, an independent operating
company of Maple Leaf Foods Inc., to service the needs
of the growing livestock and poultry industry in Western Manitoba
officially opened today in Souris, Manitoba. Landmark Feeds Inc. is a
leading manufacturer and provider of feed and nutrition services for all species of
livestock, and operates 10 facilities in Western Canada. 

“The new mill features a high level of automation
using advanced manufacturing technology to efficiently provide our
customers with quality nutrition and feed products,” said Ron Arnason,
President of Landmark Feeds. “The design of the facility also integrates
the latest in leading edge safety controls, delivering on our commitment
to food safety and quality assurance.”  

The state-of-the-art mill is designed to produce
250,000 tonnes of bulk swine, cattle and poultry feed per year based
on a 16-hour, 5-day schedule and employs 15 people. The
plant is fully automated to include receipt of orders, ingredients,
batching, process control, product traceability and shipping. The Souris location was chosen for
its proximity to the growing livestock and poultry industry in Western
Manitoba as well as rail and road access.
