A message from our Senior Vice President of Sustainability and Public Affairs

Maple Leaf Foods is in the midst of one of the biggest transformations in the history of Canada’s food industry. We’re focusing a significant amount of our resources on building our business into a great Canadian food company by investing in state-of-the art facilities, creating high-skilled jobs, building food brands that Canadians can be proud to call “their own” and giving back to the communities where we live and work.

I am very proud of this journey. And not just because it will set us apart as a leading Canadian food company, but because it’s being driven by the tremendous efforts of our people, who put forth tireless energy every day to grow our business and to help their communities thrive through volunteering and selfless giving.

To support our employees’ personal community involvement, we are pleased to provide two paid volunteer days a year, with the potential for extended leave, to help them give back to a cause they’re passionate about and maintain a strong work life balance.

“In our Communities” is a snapshot of our employees’ personal stories of giving back. It also showcases some of the causes that Maple Leaf supports, including our commitment to providing nutritious food to those in need across Canada and abroad, and to find sustainable solutions to hunger. Our community outreach efforts are focused on establishing direct partnerships with high impact and up-and-coming organizations that share our commitment to empowering positive change through access to healthy food and food education.

I would like to personally thank all of our employees for the great work they do in their communities. From these stories, I hope you get a sense of the passion, dedication and spirit that make our people so remarkable and inspiring.
